ABOUT EDUCATION BBSLSC

As a volunteer workplace, all members of an SLSC must be professionally trained, qualified, and prepared to perform the duties that their volunteer
role requires of them. Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club has over 200 trained patrolling lifesavers who complete proficiency annually to optimise safety
on our beaches.

BBSLSC provides ongoing education opportunities for existing members and initial surf life saving qualifications for new members. Nippers begin
completing education awards as six year olds and their skills/knowledge progress each year enabling thirteen year olds to become patrolling lifesavers when they complete the Surf Rescue Certificate. Surf Lifesavers are always learning new skills and knowledge – once you are sixteen you can begin to share your knowledge with others by becoming a trainer.

BBSLSC and Far North Coast SLS offer many courses throughout the year.

Please refer to the table below and if you are interested in joining SLS and completing an education course please send an email to Maryanne Sewell on education@byronbaysurfclub.org for more information.
